Great food but the service was appalling!

Nice location, good and separate food, but on the pricey side. Not a very fast service, but friendly

Controls were dramatic. After several times trying to get in touch with the employee, we finally got our drinks after 25 minutes .. Good food!

Nice terrace next to canal where you can watch big cargo ships and yachts pass by.

It was a very nice place. Incomprehensible renovation, the whole atmosphere has disappeared. Rarely experienced such an unkind bartender. Unkind to his own staff and totally unhelpful. Afrader.

The treatment was great and everything was fine until it was time to pay and my friends and I realized that they had charged us € 0.50 more than what was stated on the menu for each drink. We complained and obviously they returned our money, but that is not done, if you want to raise the prices do it, but do not try to deceive the customers. By the way, they also charged us € 1.50 for a glass of TAP water. We will not be back.

A surprise after all those bad reviews! Delicious food with fantastic wines to match. Friendly staff who did an excellent job of explaining the dishes and wines. And beautiful ambiance.

We had a delicious meal at Edel yesterday. Food is of very good quality, nice portions and very good wines with the dishes. Very good price / quality ratio! Not everyone of the service is equally skilled, but they certainly make up for it by helpfulness and friendliness. All in all, highly recommended!

Sea bass in salt was delicious. Terrace is great but it is unclear whether you are in the bar area or at the restaurant. The supervisor had no control over it. And in her stress she creates an unpleasant atmosphere. Despite poor management, employees are very nice very nice.

Got seated for drinks at a large bench with no table, very strange and uncomfortable. Something I've never experienced, going to a bar and not even having a proper table.

Bad coffee. And then I had to pay € 1.50 because I asked for a glass of water! It was 30 degrees outside. Supposedly it was special water, which I had not asked for, but it looked suspiciously like a small glass of tap water.

Nice food, beautiful terrace. Nice service. Unfortunately, this did not apply to the reception. He got pretty rude when we mentioned the lack of distance between the tables. Combined with a very noisy company behind us, this means that I will not return

Unfortunately, our evening was shaped by the discomfort of the messy service. We only received our first order, 2 coffees, after the starter (after asking 5 times). 3 times something was put on the table that was not ordered. Ordered a second bottle of wine after the starter, it came after the main course. Bottles of water would be refilled when empty but will not return without asking 3 times. While eating the dessert, we asked twice if she could take it with us while we still had our spoons in hand. All this has come at the expense of our evening, a small thing can always happen of course, but this way a night out is very frustrating. Despite everything, the food was very good, which might make it an extra waste. Would have come more often otherwise. Nice place too!

Location is great, ambiance is also very nice. Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for each course, the food that was served below average. We expected more from this evening. Unfortunately.

Good location .... but a bad unprofessional service for a very simple order ... 2 beer and 2 apple pie .... beer came to 10 '.... asked twice for the apple pie ... it came after 40 '.... enne, it was not busy .... very unfortunate

Terrace good

Very nice and tasty dishes and a super enthusiastic and sincere service. You really notice that both service and the chefs love the profession. Absolutely class !!

We arrived by boat and the waterside terrace was full or reserved so they served us on the boat! Just had some snacks and a drink but was a lovely atmosphere, view and great sunny spot to catch the last rays of the evening. Friendly staff and a good vibe all round 😌

Best enjoyed around 3-6 before it gets super busy. Superb views of the canal on all sides and extra dock seating around the side. Yeah the service is slow but what’s the rush?

Food was nice overall, especially the starters and beef main. Would not recommend the “bloody biet” burger (very dry) or apple pie (very soggy dough). Also while service was friendly, it was also very much below standard (not explaining what dessert was in surprise menu, a sea of empty wine glasses on the table (not cleared or asked whether we wanted something else to drink), wine arriving after food was served or not at all, not asking whether we wanted coffee or tea, having 5 different people serving at our table, having to get our own coats from the closet they were out away in as no one seemed to care about us once we paid the bill, no one who said goodbye when we left, etc etc

While the food was fine, the overall experience was underwhelming. The hostess was very nice but didn’t make up for the rest of the team being extremely sloppy and not attentive. Our appetizers were served to another table and the waiter kept forgetting our drink orders. Unfortunately this place seems to be made more for sitting outside on the terrace and having borrel rather than going for the actual dining experience.

The staff is quite welcoming and friendly. Food is served pretty fast. The view from the outside terrace is wonderful.

Help, what happened here! The cappuccino is a very thin layer of coffee in an old-fashioned white cup. You pay E 3.50 for that one sip of lukewarm milk. The first thing you think is that they put the remainder of another table on yours. I honestly still think so. Or did I miss a trend? The staff are friendly, but still inept inexperienced. Don't miss the old Edel!

We expected more, given the good reviews of restaurant Daalder (the same chef). We ate in the restaurant on Father's Day and chose a 5-course menu. The dishes looked nice but were of moderate taste. The service was friendly, but inexperienced and not used to working in this type of restaurant. All in all, the price / quality ratio was not well balanced.

Overrated, we got a recommendation from a local so I guess it's popular place for tourists and locals. Drinks are at okeish price but food very expensive consider what Amsterdam has to offer even in exclusive restaurants . Location is good but you can find better ones easily . Not sure if I would recommend to visit for a tourist. For local it's seems to me overrated consider other options

Very bad me and my husband sat there for half an hour and no one came. It wasn't busy so it won't have been that. Nowhere did it say that you had to make a reservation and there was also nowhere that you had to order. So I don't know why nobody came. There were also 2 employees who did not come, they just watched you and and for the rest nothing. Normally you ask anyway, do you want to order something or if necessary you ask, have you already ordered something but that did not happen.

One big disappointment. Kind of reprimanded because they forgot our order. Huh ?! Later someone came to make amends with 2 drinks from the house that - as it turned out - were just charged. Starter and main course served almost simultaneously. Etc etc etc ... Well guys, keep up the good work (and no, corona is no excuse).

We had an absolutely amazing time there! The place has a new owner, it is totally renovated and looks beautiful, with a new fancy-looking bar/restaurant inside and a new terrace. The staff is very friendly and really made efforts to accommodate our reservation. Thanks again for everything, we will be back! :)

We had an amazing experience here. The staff was charming, the dishes were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious and the fact that there is finally a bit more fine dining in the West is HUGELY welcome. Looking forward to seeing what the terrace will look like when it’s finished.

l dont always share my experience unless its too good or too bad so this time lm afraid not a good one.The food came after an hour, its super overpriced and nothing special about the place...Its obvious the place is new and needs some settling thats why lm writing this so maybe they could work on that. but for now doesnt stand a chance...

Great food, nice atmosphere, modern look and style. Highly recommend this place!

I like the outside space, on the canal with lot of seats in the sun. The interior is pretty beautiful but a bit 'cold'. Apparently they never have a menu for a reason or another but you can always find the usuals:fries bitterballen and drinks! I would recommend only for that not dinner or lunch.

This is a great place for amazing food by Chef Dennis Huwaë, in a very cool setting with art from ELLE Streetart(NYC) The concept is really cool, so go check it out and go and get a drink in the bar too.

Long que for Friday party

The place is under a new owner! The bartender -the one you see on the pics- was very welcoming and basically was the one who made us stay. Really nice drinks and atmosphere!

I like the old version of lokaal edel.

The Edel is just a restaurant now. The owner changed. The lonely planet recommendation needs to be changed or cancelled.

Really cozy atmosphere if you are looking for a drink snd some fancy bites. They arrange also tasting course menu' in their typical dutch environment. Enjoy
